The Austrian Society for Thoracic Surgery (OGTC) has awarded Dr. Berta Mosleh the Georg Salzer Award 2025 for the best scientific work in the field of clinical and experimental research in thoracic surgery.
The awarded study, titled “The Mesothelioma Systemic Inflammation Score Is Independently Associated with Overall Survival and Predicts Benefit of Multimodality Treatment in Pleural Mesothelioma” , was published in cancers (Vol. 17/8) on April 20, 2025. It focuses on validating the Mesothelioma Systemic Inflammation Score (MSIS) – a newly developed inflammation-based scoring system – in relation to the treatment of malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM), one of the most challenging cancers to treat.
The award ceremony took place on Friday, October 17, 2025, during the OGTC Annual Meeting in Linz.
